I have installed phpmyadmin in a Linode Server.
I set mysql password but when I’m trying to login via phpmyadmin interface I get the message:
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
I also tried via terminal: mysql -u root -p root
And then I got the following message:

Watch out for special characters that may need escaping in some contexts.
When using the commandline tool, do not have a space after -p:
$ mysql -u root -proot
^
If you do not have the root correct password, then read the documentation about how to use --skip-grant-tables to get in with no password.
